Privacy Policy
Last updated: 26 August 2026
This policy explains how HeritageX collects, uses and protects personal information. We handle personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
1. Information we collect
We collect: (a) your mobile number, which you provide to create an account and to receive a one-time verification code; (b) account details you choose to give us (such as a display name or contact details); (c) usage information generated as you use the Service, such as pages viewed, searches, filters and valuations run; and (d) technical log data such as IP address, device and browser type, and timestamps. We do not seek to collect sensitive information.
2. How we use it
We use this information to provide and secure the Service, to authenticate you, to remember basic preferences, to understand and improve how the Service is used, and — only where you have asked for them — to send you alerts and updates. We do not use it to make automated decisions that have legal effects on you.
3. SMS messages and consent
If you provide your mobile number, we may send you a verification code and service-related messages. Marketing or alert messages are sent only with your consent, and you can opt out at any time by replying STOP or by changing your notification settings. We handle electronic messages consistently with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth).
4. Cookies
We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and to remember basic preferences (for example, an interface mode). These are necessary for the Service to work; we do not use them for third-party advertising.
5. When we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us run the Service — for example our SMS gateway and our hosting and database providers — and only as needed for them to provide their service to us. We may also disclose information where required by law or to protect our rights and users.
6. Overseas storage
Our hosting and database providers may store or process data on servers located outside Australia. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information is handled consistently with the APPs.
7. Security and retention
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. We keep personal information only for as long as it is needed for the purposes above or as required by law, and then delete or de-identify it.
8. Your rights
You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account and associated personal information. Contact us using the details below and we will respond within a reasonable time.
9. Complaints
If you have a privacy concern, please contact us first and we will try to resolve it. You may also complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
10. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the “last updated” date above.
11. Contact
